maggie's version of a BLOG

bunraku doll all silk
This picture was taken at the sereiculture farm at Hachioji, Japan in the southwest section of the Tokyo Prefecture.

As you can see, our new found friends from the Tama Group were bidding us farewell, after our' silk experience day' at the farm. There we were able to see the active silk worms in this very building, busy devouring the mulberry leaves. We made 'floss silk' squares and actually reeled the tiny fibers from the cocoons, and made strands of filament silk thread. Talk about an exciting adventure. We wish everyone could have joined us.

Two new friends we meet on our trip to Japan in May, 2007

Price Adjusting 2009

The more recent drop of the Japanese yen and higher freight costs mean we have had to increase prices on some of our silk thread products. Keeping high quality products available to you quickly, is always our goal as a fiber business.

We look forward to new aventures at International Quilt Market/Festival in Houston 2009. for the first time we are offering one and two day classes. Silk scarves, shibori, overdyeing, silkscreening, Silk Thread Painting, hand quilting, sewing with silk and many other silk topics will be highlighted in our classes.

For those of you staying over on Sunday I will be doing ' Silks for Christmas', always a popular class at this time of year. See our class link The Silk Experience || Silk Things and sign up for your classes early at www.quilts.com .
