TIRE Metallic Threads

  • Size 1 (small gauge)
  • 100 meter spool

This small gauge Size 1 of the metallics, when applied by machine or hand are so delicate and whispy, it is a delight to the eye. The Size 1 reminds one of the airy spider web (note illustration) What a wonderful way to add subtle embellishments to all types of projects.

Although, the TIRE metallic threads are not silk fibers, the metallics are a perfect companions to coordinate with the other weights and colors of TIRE silk thread line.

Because of the polyester core, these metallics do not seem to shred so easily. When working the metallic by hand, always work with short lengths.

For machine work, the 100 Plus silk thread is ideal for the bobbin support thread and a needle that can accomodate the size of the metallic. Shredding usually occurs when the eye of the hand or machine needle rubs the metallic from the poly core.

This medium gauge Size 3 of the metallics, when applied by machine or hand, will add a bolder statement to your embellishing. This is a passing thread, therefore is suitable for hand embroidery and is a smooth working metallic in the machine.

Although, the TIRE metallic threads are not silk fibers, the TIRE metallics are wonderful when coordinated with any of the other TIRE silk thread weights and colors. Because of the polyester core,these TIRE metallics do not seem to shred so easily. Shredding often occurs when the eye of the hand or machine needle rubs the metallic from the poly core.

When working the metallic by hand, always work with short lengths. For machine work, we recommend the 100 Plus silk thread because it is an ideal bobbin support thread for these light weight metallic threads.
