This Silk 100 Plus thread was originally engineered by the Japanese as a machine embroidery thread. However, we have also discovered it to be the best, all purpose silk thread we have ever encountered. This astonishingly strong, thin 2 ply filament silk is not only a gorgeous machine embroidery thread but is stronger than much thicker sewing machine threads.And it does perform well on all types of fabrics. We have had these 200 meter spools of the 100 Plus made especially for us, although this 100 weight thread is available on larger spools. General seam construction projects do not need large color palettes because the 100 Plus is invisible in inner seam and machine sewing work. And it is possible to make the tiniest stitch size on the sewing machine, eliminating those puckered seams.
This 100 weight silk thread is the best thread (bar none)for basting and hidden sewing needs. The pictures reveals how the 100 Plus can be colored (as in hombre shading) with the COLORHUE dyes after it has been attached to the black fabric.

The Silk 100 Plus just floats into seams leaving less bulk (sergers love it), it magically disappears for blind stitch applauding, basting, tacking, hand work, and can accomplish delicate decorative work. Quilting applique enthusiasts love its disappearing act. A satin stitch utilizing the Silk 100 Plus can act as a resist when utilizing the 'Colorhue' instant set silk dyes.
